POOLE SWIMMING CLUB: SQUADS STRUCTURE

 

Swimmer Selection in Squads
Below is a brief outline of the squad structure, detailing the primary age and expected ability of the swimmers in each squad.

When coaches consider which swimmers for squads, they consider the following:

1. A demonstrated ability that swimmer can handle the workload.
2. The swimmer’s ability to handle the psychology of the group.
3. The swimmers ability to compete well.
4. Whether the swimmer is prepared to make the commitment.

NATIONAL PREPARATION SQUAD
National Preparation squad trains 6-9 pool sessions and multiple land training sessions per week. Swimmers are primarily 12 and over with regional qualifying times in more than one event. These swimmers are competing at or striving to be competitive at British National Age Groups Championship level. Swimmers training in National Preparation squad are expected to make a full commitment to the training and competition schedule laid out by the coach.

REGIONAL SQUAD
Regional squad trains 5-9 pool sessions and multiple land training sessions per week. Swimmers are primarily 10 to 14 years and either qualified or close to qualifying for the Regional Age Groups Championships. These swimmers are competing at or striving to be competitive at Regional Age Groups Championship level. Swimmers training in Regional squad are expected to make a full commitment to the training and competition schedule laid out by the coach.

COUNTY SQUAD
County squad trains 4-7 pool sessions per week and 1-3 land training session each week. Swimmers are primarily 9 to 12 years with County qualifying times and aiming to qualify for the Regional Age Groups championships in more than one event.

JUNIOR SQUAD
Junior squad trains 3-6 pool sessions and 1 land training session each week, with swimmers expected to do a minimum 3 sessions per week. Swimmers are primarily 12 years and under and aiming for County qualifying times in multiple events of 100m or longer in distance.

POOLE SWIM SCHOOL: SQUADS STRUCTURE

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
Development squad trains 3-5 pool sessions per week with swimmers expected to do a minimum 3 sessions per week and compete in competitions. This squad is aimed at developing swimmers to a standard so they can compete successfully at various levels. Swimmers are primarily 8 to 11 years and compete at the Novice League, Team Galas and then licensed 3 open meets.

MINI SQUAD
Mini squad provides a transition between the swimming lessons and training squads. Swimmers are generally aged between 7 and 10 years, and complete a minimum 2 sessions per week. Swimmers are introduced to competition with our Star Games and Styles Gala and then moving on to Novice League and Team Galas.

4 STAR GROUP
4 Star Group focuses on the consolidation on freestyle, backstroke techniques, further develop butterfly and introduce breaststroke. Swimmers are generally aged between 7 and 10 years, and complete 1 session per week. Star Games and Styles Galas are available for 4 Star Group swimmers.

3 STAR GROUP

3 Star Group focuses on the freestyle, backstroke development and introduce butterfly. Swimmers are generally aged between 6 and 10 years, and complete 1 session per week. Star Games and Styles Galas are available for 3 Star Group swimmers.

2 STAR GROUP

2 Star Group focuses on the freestyle, backstroke development and introduce dolphin kick. Swimmers are generally aged between 6 and 9 years, and complete 1 session per week. Star Games and Styles Galas are available for 3 Star Group swimmers.

 

 POOLE SWIMMING CLUB: SQUADS STRUCTURE

MASTERS SQUAD

Masters squad is open to swimmers 18/over and offers 10 pool sessions. Masters swimmers wish to maintain or improve their fitness and compete at various Masters open meets.

GOLD SQUAD
Gold squad trains 4-8 pool sessions per week. Swimmers are primarily 13 and over and compete at county or regional level. Committed swimmers who achieve Regional qualifying times will be offered the opportunity to move up to National Preparation Squad.

SILVER SQUAD
Silver squad trains 1-3 pool sessions per week. Swimmers are primarily 12 to 14 years and compete at Team Galas and licensed 3 open meets.

BRONZE SQUAD
County squad trains 1-2 pool sessions per week. Swimmers are primarily 10 to 13 years and compete at Team Galas.

Where a family has several junior members, only one pays the full rate, whilst the others receive a discount (see Sibling rates). Special arrangements can be made for students who are unable to swim during term time by using tickets.                                  

You are strongly urged to pay swimming fees by standing order on the first of each month. The membership and ASA registration are paid annually as a separate transaction.

 

Please Note: Payments made other than by standing order have 10% added which covers the increased cost in chasing people for payments.
